- Continuation of an existing project started 2020-21 to protect and monitor banded dotterels at Waipureuku/Clive.
- Previous monitoring to be expanded on, results from previous monitoring proved a need for cat traps around nesting areas.
- Further monitoring will provide improved predator identification and control methods.
- Ongoing and increased public education regarding the banded dotterel required.
- Education provided within certain schools with the aim to reach more schools this season.
- Residents of the local area are educated and encouraged to be involved with the protection of the banded dotterels especially during breeding season.
- Funding to be used to purchase predator control supplies, monitoring equipment and education and training materials. Funding also used for advisor transport and equipment while monitoring and conducting pest control.
