House of science
Resource Kits
House of Science is a Charitable Trust started in 2013. The Hawke’s Bay branch started three years ago and supports 33 member schools. House of Science develops bilingual, hands on science resource kits and loans them to primary and intermediate schools nationwide.
Four different kits available:
- Soil Secrets (soil science)
- Water Analysis (Freshwater ecology)
- Big Blue Future (Marine Ecosystem)
- Who’s Been There? (biodiversity with eDNA)
The goal is to improve scientific literacy in children around NZ by ensuring kits are ready and available when requested by the schools.
PPET funding in 2024 will enable an additional two kits to be added to the rotation which in turn will increase the number of member schools.
